The coldest and wettest autumn this year in Nelson has delayed our vintage at Retiro Park Lodge Bed and Breakfast. Some of the wineries in the region have started harvesting the fruit from the warmest sites and there are reports of good quality. The fruit in our vineyard is looking healthy and the weather forecast for the next days is good. Today we have finished the cleaning operations in the cellar and every piece of equipment is ready for the start of the 2012 vintage in the next ten days.
Some of the guests at Retiro Park Lodge bed and breakfast are more partial towards beer than wine. Here is the good news: Nelson is the New Zealand region with a major number of independent boutique breweries, there is a myriad of them and the traveller visiting our region won’t have a shortage of breweries (as well of wineries off course) to visit (Brewzone). Also recently (as every year in March) the Nelson Marchfest, our local beer festival takes place, and if you have missed it this year perhaps you could consider visiting Nelson for the next edition, and after a busy day of tasting and making new friends have a relaxing meal and good sleep at Retiro Park Lodge.
For the travellers visiting Nelson this month regardless of their preference being wine or beer, we welcome them at Retiro Park Lodge to enjoy the history and beauty of our city participating in the events that will take place during the conmemoration of our local Heritage Week.
