It has been a while since the last post, but we have had a busy spring at Retiro Park Lodge! The first visitors of the season have pouring into the bed and breakfast especially during the Nelson arts Festival 2012.
The 2012 Chardonnay and Pinot Gris are already in the bottle and looking great for a refreshing summer drink in the good company of our visitors. We intend to bottle the Pinot Noir just before the start of the 2013 vintage. That will be the wine some time to mature and will help us to beat the winter blues during the cold season. the vineyard has had its first sulphur spray and so far the vines look healthy and growing well.
Robbert has been busy taking care of the garden (which is looking better than ever!) The vegetables (the tomatoes are already in!) and the animals: The llamas and alpacas are due to have babies. As if this would not be enough we have some new residents, six lovely goats that are not going only to be useful to eat the wild gorse but to provide some milk for winemaking purposes. One must have always a new challenge.
In the Nelson’s activities front this month of November the 17th Italian Film Festival is on! So no excuse for cinema lovers not to come to our region and stay at Retiro Park Lodge
