It has been a busy but short winter at Retiro Park lodge this year. Pruning in the vineyard is already completed and the olives are well underway. Our wines are looking very smart already and the Chardonnay and Pinot Gris will be bottled shortly. We will have to wait at least until Christmas to bottle the Pinot Noir.
As well as taking care of our crops, garden and the guests at the Bed and Breakfast we have found time to plant almost one hundred deciduous trees all over the property for our enjoyment and that of our visitors, not to talk about that of keeping our carbon footprint under control!
We have had such frantic activity that we almost didn’t realize that the almond trees and the daffodils in the paddocks and the garden are in flower again! This is irrefutable proof that another busy and exciting season is approaching for us at the lodge.
It is also a sign that the 2012 edition of the Nelson Arts Festival is Just around the corner!
