Retiro Park Lodge Bed and Breakfast offers outstanding, friendly and personalized accommodation in an oasis of quiet country elegance. Set in an extensive garden in a 90-acre park-like property nestled amongst hills and sitting along the river in beautiful Teal Valley, surrounded by nature and peace but minutes away from Nelson City Centre’s bustle. The property rears Llamas and Alpacas that roam freely in the paddocks surrounding the lodge, and it also features its own boutique vineyard, olive and almond groves. Our Bed and Breakfast is the perfect base to explore the top of New Zealand’s South Island most sought after attractions: it is within easy reach for day excursions and equidistant from “The Abel Tasman”, “Kahurangi” and “Nelson Lakes” National Parks and “The Marlborough Sounds” and the Marlborough wine growing region.

For accommodation, guests at Retiro Park Lodge can choose between two tasteful well-appointed spaces: “The Patio Room”, a comfortable large suite that opens into a verandah overlooking an intimate vine-covered courtyard and “The Barn”, a completely independent airy and purposely renovated building with vistas over the hills and the surrounding property.

Breakfast at Retiro Park Lodge is an important affair. We provide guests with a full English breakfast that is served in the ivy covered conservatory, and where local and organic produce is used whenever possible, as well as from our own vegetable garden and eggs from our chicken coop. Dinner is homemade, by arrangement and tailored to your requirements, also using local Nelson and New Zealand’s seasonal produce and wines

Retiro is Spanish for retreat, and is also the name of a beautiful park in Madrid, that was a royal hunting lodge belonging to the Habsburg dynasty, and located near where your hosts once used to live.
